Awards and ratings
In the 2022–2023 ski season, 49,210 winter sports guests in 54 ski areas in the Alpine region were surveyed at the slopes and asked if they were satisfied and what could be improved.
The Best Ski Resort Study is the largest and most significant guest satisfaction analysis in 54 selected top ski resorts in the Alpine region AT, CH, IT, FR. The study, which has been conducted periodically since 2012, is supported by the University of Innsbruck.
Special award Top 10 “The best ski resorts in the Alps 2012 – 2023”
In an annual comparison of 2012–2023, the Aletsch Arena ranks sixth in the Top 10 of the 54 selected top ski areas in the Alpine region.

Blick Winter Awards
Every year, Blick and Switzerland Tourism hold a public online vote to find the best ski destinations in Switzerland. The Aletsch Arena enters in the main categories “Ski and Snowboard” and “Family”.
2 times 3rd place
The Aletsch Arena placed third out of 27 in the main category “Ski and Snowboard” and third out of 48 entrants in the “Family” category. Our neighbours at Goms Tourism won the “Cross-country skiing” category for the third time in a row.
Second and third
In the Blick Winter Awards, the Aletsch Arena secured third place in the main category “Ski and Snowboard”, close behind Zermatt Matterhorn. In “Family”, the second category for which the Aletsch Arena was nominated, the region claimed the second spot on the podium. Our warmest congratulations go to the neighbouring Goms Tourism who again won an award in the category “Cross-country Skiing”. Bellwald made it into third place in the “Small but exquisite” category. Well done! Our warmest thanks to all the guests who voted for us.
Sustainability
Swisstainable
The Aletsch Arena participates in the Swisstainable sustainability programme by Swiss Tourism. Guests interested in sustainable activities can easily get lost in the jungle of labels out there. Switzerland Tourism launched Swisstainable to offer guests better orientation, by defining a scheme in consultation with external experts and in close collaboration with the tourism associations.
Level I – "Committed" for Aletsch Arena
The Aletsch Arena AG and the Aletsch Bahnen AG meet the criteria for the category “Level I – Committed”. Level I is aimed at businesses that do not (yet) have any certifications or other proof of sustainability, but are nonetheless committed to sustainable business management and want to continuously develop their business in the direction of sustainability.

The renowned International Ski Area Test gets its data from detailed, anonymous tests in 36 tourism regions in the European Alpine region.
Ski Area Test Winner 2023
The International Ski Area Test, launched 28 years ago, is an anonymous quality check. In winter as in summer, visits are paid to participating ski resorts or tourism destinations, which are inspected and evaluated based on a comprehensive list of criteria. Aletsch Bahnen AG was named winner of the overall summer ranking, earning the title “Test Winner Switzerland – Summer 2023 Gold”. The Aletsch Arena cable car company also won the “Nature & Environment” and “Ecological Construction Monitoring” categories for the new Moosfluh geology footbridge. Aletsch Bahnen AG was also awarded the “International Summer Quality Seal – Cart/Scooter Trail Gold”. Aletsch Bahnen AG’s existing ropes course and the refurbished Baschweri children’s playground in the municipality of Bettmeralp have been awarded the “Kinderland Trophy – Baschweri Gold”.

Aletsch Bahnen AG was named winner of the overall ranking, earning the title “Ski Area Test Winner 2020 – Switzerland”. The Aletsch Arena cable car company also won the “Rising Star Project 2020 Switzerland – Public Transport Hub Fiesch” and the “Mobility Trophy – Public Transport Hub” categories. The piste and rescue team was delighted to receive the “International Piste Seal of Quality – Double Gold” and the “Piste Manager Trophy”.

In winter as in summer, visits are paid to participating ski resorts or tourism destinations, which are inspected and evaluated based on a comprehensive list of criteria. Aletsch Bahnen AG was named winner of the overall summer ranking, earning the title "Ski Area Test Winner 2019 - Switzerland". The Aletsch Arena cable car company also won the “Best Children’s Programme – Gold” and “Fun & Action” categories. The piste and rescue team can be rightfully proud of their “Piste Rescue Safety Trophy – Gold”, “International Piste Seal of Quality – Double Gold” and the “International Toboggan Run Seal of Quality (Moosfluh)”. The Bättmerhitta was named the Most Popular Ski Hut.

The Aletsch Arena was recognised by Skiresort.de, the world's largest test portal for ski resorts, as the 2024 test winner in the "Environmentally friendly ski operations" category. The mountain railways of Aletsch Bahnen AG are powered entirely by renewable energy from local sources.
