Fieschertal

Holidays at the foot of the Finsteraarhorn

It doesn’t get much more idyllic than this: nestling in a picturesque valley at the foot of the 4274-metre-high Finsteraarhorn, Fieschertal presents itself in all modesty and yet exudes a splendid authenticity. A little village in the Aletsch Arena, one might think. Population-wise, that may be true. In terms of its area, though, Fieschertal at 1,100m above sea level is the fourth-largest municipality in the Canton of Valais after Bagnes, Zermatt and Evolène. Fieschertal is an insider tip for holidays in Switzerland for everyone who likes it authentic, informal and active.

By the way, when you come here on vacation, you spend your holiday next to the Mönch and Jungfrau. That’s because both mountains are partly located within the municipal boundaries of Fieschertal
