The Aletsch Arena in Valais, which has as its neighbours Brig and Goms, is the destination for a refreshing stay in Switzerland – and for the most liberating nature experience in the Alps. At the heart of the Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch UNESCO World Heritage Site lies the breathtaking Great Aletsch Glacier. It has always held a very special fascination for holidaymakers and locals alike.

The car-free destinations of Riederalp, Bettmeralp and Fiescheralp are perched high on the sunny Valais plateau. Down below in the Rhône Valley are the idyllic villages of Mörel-Filet, Lax, Fiesch and Fieschertal. And in between, halfway up, there are other villages to discover: Ried-Mörel, Greich, Betten Dorf and Martisberg. View points

Unobstructed views

The best vantage points, called view points, are among the absolute highlights in the Aletsch Arena. All are easily accessible by cable car and each has a platform from which you can see the majestic Great Aletsch Glacier from a different perspective. Worth a visit

Sights

In the Aletsch Arena, you'll discover countless sights that definitely belong in your photo album. Particularly impressive are the various viewpoints offering breathtaking panoramas of the Great Aletsch Glacier – an unforgettable experience in both summer and winter. Another highlight is the Maria zum Schnee Chapel, which is part of the Grand Tour of Switzerland. The Eggishorn viewpoint is also one of the marked stops along this tour and offers spectacular panoramic views of the majestic glacier landscape. A true must-see is the historic Villa Cassel, which stands proudly on the Riederalp and today serves as a nature conservation centre.

No running engines, no honking horns, no traffic jams: the much-loved holiday resorts of Riederalp, Bettmeralp and Fiescheralp in the Aletsch Arena are car-free and can only be reached by cable car. Another benefit of being car-free: you’re out on the slopes in no time.

Sustainability

The breathtaking nature of the Aletsch Arena is its greatest asset. This fact makes the issue of sustainability absolutely vital to the Aletsch Arena. So, for example, all cable cars in the region are powered by renewable energy. Thanks to the good public transport connections, travelling here is convenient, comfortable and glacier-friendly. The Aletsch Arena scores high marks for sustainability and environmental protection. In 2019/2020, it was named one of the top ski resorts by Skiresort.de, the world’s largest test portal of ski resorts. In the eco-friendliness category, the Aletsch Arena was awarded a maximum five out of five stars.
