Who we are

Aletsch Arena AG

What Aletsch Arena AG does?

Aletsch Arena AG is responsible for marketing the region surrounding Riederalp, Bettmeralp, and Fiesch. On behalf of the municipalities of Mörel-Filet, Riederalp, Fiesch, Bettmeralp, Fieschertal, and Lax, as well as Aletsch Bahnen AG and the Aletsch Tourismus association, we are passionately engaged in the areas of information, animation, advertising, and sales to actively shape and promote tourism in the Aletsch Arena. At the same time, the Aletsch Tourismus association is committed to representing the interests of the region in accordance with the cantonal tourism law.

Since its reestablishment on November 1, 2015, Aletsch Arena AG has grown into one of the largest tourism organizations in the canton of Valais. Our passion for this unique region inspires us every day to provide our guests with an unforgettable experience.
Our goal: to make the Aletsch Arena one of the leading destinations in the Alps.

On the timeline

The history of the tourism organization

The marketing project organization is founded

In 2008, six well-established tourism companies came together—initiated by the three mountain railway companies—to form the Marketing Pool Aletsch Arena. From that point on, the following companies began presenting themselves as a single destination: Aletsch Riederalp Bahnen AG, Bettmeralp Bahnen AG, Luftseilbahnen Fiesch-Eggishorn AG, Riederalp Mörel, Tourismus, Bettmeralp Tourismus, Eggishorn Tourismus

The Aletsch Arena becomes a public limited company

In August 2012, Aletsch Arena was officially established as a public limited company. The executive management of the marketing and sales organization was appointed, and the structure was consolidated and further professionalized.

The brand promise: “The most liberating nature experience in the Alps”

Through a series of intensive workshops with project participants from Riederalp, Bettmeralp, and Fiesch-Eggishorn, the Aletsch Arena's brand promise was born: “The most liberating nature experience in the Alps.” In the same year, a unified visual identity was developed, including a clearly defined corporate identity and corporate design.

Founding of Aletsch Arena AG

Aletsch Arena AG takes over the unified marketing of the destination. At the same time, the former tourism associations Riederalp-Mörel Tourismus, Bettmeralp Tourismus, and Eggishorn Tourismus merge to form "Aletsch Tourismus".

New executive management at Aletsch Arena AG

In May 2016, all tourism associations of the Aletsch Arena officially merge into the strong, unified organization Aletsch Tourismus. In July, the new executive management team takes office, supported by dedicated department heads and employees across five key business areas.

Merger into Aletsch Bahnen AG

The three mountain railway companies of the destination – Aletsch Riederalp Bahnen AG, Bettmeralp Bahnen, and Luftseilbahn Eggishorn – merge to form Aletsch Bahnen AG.

New executive management and digital transformation

As of November 2020, a new CEO takes the lead at Aletsch Arena AG. At the same time, the "Aletsch Kollektiv" is formed – a collaboration between the four tourism destinations Aletsch Arena, Blatten-Belalp, Obergoms Tourismus, and Brig-Simplon. The collective aims to drive forward the digital transformation of all four destinations. The new website aletscharena.ch goes live.

New destination and marketing strategy

In the 2021/2022 business year, Aletsch Arena AG, together with all tourism stakeholders, develops a new destination and marketing strategy. The goal is to create innovative products and increase visitor numbers during the off-season.
