At Gletschiland on Bettmeralp, there’s fun galore for families all year round. In the indoor playground, children aged four and over can climb and slide as well as bounce on trampolines. The Gletschi Family Funslope offers even more action – great fun for young and old. Tip for parents: The indoor playground at Bachtla Sports Centre is perfect for bad weather days during a family holiday in the Aletsch Arena.

In the Aletsch Arena, family hikes with kids are packed with exciting experiences. On Moosfluh Geological Walkway, children can have fun while learning about the impact of climate change. The best outdoor activities in the Aletsch Arena

  • Stoneman Glaciara Bike: 127 km of pedal-pumping adrenalin! 4,700 metres in altitude difference put your stamina to the test – accompanied all the way by the breathtaking views of the Aletsch Glacier. A must for all bikers who want to push themselves to their limits. If you prefer travelling on foot, you can also experience the Stoneman Glaciara as a challenging hiking route – for an equally intense experience of nature! 

  • Eggishorn via ferrata: The Eggishorn via ferrata starts at the cable car mountain station and leads you over rocky outcrops and well-secured passages. Highlights of the tour include a 40-metre Nepalese bridge and a 30-metre suspension bridge, which offer spectacular views. 

  • Hiking in the Aletsch Arena: Whether it’s the UNESCO High Trail with its unique view of the Aletsch Glacier or one of the more relaxed panorama walks – in the Aletsch Arena you’ll find hiking trails for every level and with stunning views of the mountain scenery.

Stoneman Glaciara – the premier class for mountain bikers

The Stoneman Glaciara is not for the faint-hearted. With an altitude difference of 4,700 metres and covering a distance of 127 km, this bike trail is one of the toughest challenges in Switzerland. The route takes you through the wild, romantic landscape of the Aletsch Arena and rewards you with unforgettable views of the glacier. Very good fitness and the right equipment are a must here. 

 

Eggishorn via ferrata – a thrilling climb

The Eggishorn via ferrata is a real test for body and mind. Technically challenging passages and exposed sections provide for thrills galore. The thrill grows with every step upwards – the panoramic view is an additional reward for your exertions. Tip: Safety equipment is a must, because this via ferrata is no picnic! It can be hired from the Mountaineering Centre in Fiesch.

Sunrise Ride up to Eggishorn – start the day with a magical view

An unforgettable experience awaits you on the Sunrise Ride up to Eggishorn. When the first rays of sunshine bathe the Aletsch Glacier and the surrounding four-thousand-metre mountains in warm colours, you experience nature at its most beautiful. The 360Β° panorama lets you enjoy views of iconic peaks such as the Matterhorn and the Bernese Alps. This moment is often accompanied by alphorn players, which makes for an incomparable atmosphere. The Sunrise Trips take place in July and August, including 1 August, and end up with a relaxed breakfast on Fiescheralp – a perfect combination of culinary delights and the experience of nature.

Spectacular suspension bridges in the Aletsch Arena and surrounding area

The suspension bridges in the Aletsch Goms region are an absolute must for anyone who loves dizzying heights. Five awe-inspiring bridges provide for unique hiking experiences and open up new perspectives on the Valais landscape. Highlights include the bridges between Belalp and Riederalp, Aspi-Titter at the foot of the Fiesch Glacier, the Goms Bridge, the Massegga Bridge near Bitsch and the Bodmer Bridge in Obergoms. These structures span gorges at up to 120 metres above the ground, offering breathtaking views. The bridges are also ideal for family hikes and offer spectacular connecting routes through unspoilt nature.
