The Panorama Tour is a real treat for skiers and snowboarders: it combines the most beautiful slopes and most stunning view points in a challenging circular ski tour.

On this circular trail, you ski from highlight to highlight – right across the entire ski area of the Aletsch Arena and back. First-class skiing and snowboarding pleasure is followed again and again by stunning nature experiences and superb views of the Great Aletsch Glacier and the Valais mountains. The route of this unique panoramic ski circular tour takes you to the breathtaking view points of the Aletsch Arena no less than four times. The circular tour begins on Riederalp, although Bettmeralp and Fiescheralp also make suitable starting points. The trail is clearly marked throughout with red trail signs with the glacier symbol. To summarise: if you’re a sporty skier or snowboarder in good physical condition, you’ll enjoy this spectacular one-day tour and definitely won’t forget it in a hurry.

Directions

The tour begins with a ride on the Hohfluh chairlift up to the Hohfluh view point. From there you set off on your first downhill run (slopes 6a and 6b). Passing Riederfurka, the slope curves gently round to the east (slopes 3a, 8a and 8b). Your destination is Gletscherbahn Moosfluh, which takes you up to the next lookout platform – the Mossfluh view point. This is followed by the descent to Bettmeralp (slopes 21 and 54). From here, take the Bettmerhorn cable car up to Bettmerhorn view point – the third such lookout platform on this panoramic ski circuit. Enjoy the vista of the Great Aletsch Glacier, the Valais mountains and the Matterhorn before starting the next descent (slopes 60, 55, 58 and 71). Your destination is Fiescheralp. Take the t-bar lift there, which gives you enough momentum at the end to reach the Talegga chairlift. The Talegga mountain station marks the easternmost point of the ski tour. Launch yourself downhill to the Heimat chairlift (slopes 83 and 85), which whisks you back up to Fiescheralp. Your next stop on the way back is the Flesch chairlift, which brings you to the starting point of the long, fast-paced descent (slopes 71, 59, 47, 46 and 45) down to Bettmeralp. The destination there is the magic carpet, which takes you up so far that you can easily reach the Blausee chairlift (piste 42). Catch a ride on this to the start of the next descent, heading downhill to the Gletscherbahn Moosfluh valley station (slopes 18 and 12). One last time, take the combi-lift up to Moosfluh view point. Enjoy the panoramic view once more and then look forward to the final descent (slopes 12a, 11, 9 and 10) on the Glacier Panorama Tour, back down to the starting point on Riederalp.

Take Kantonsstrasse 19 to the Mörel-Filet exit, then follow signs for the parking facilities. Proceed on foot to the Riederalp cable car (Aletsch Bahnen AG), which takes you up to Riederalp.

Limited parking spaces (charges apply) at Mörel-Filet station. Further parking options are signposted.

Large pay multi-storey car parks at the entrance to Mörel-Filet and in the village centre.

By train from Brig or Oberwald to Mörel-Filet, then on foot to the Riederalp cable car (Aletsch Bahnen AG). Take the cable car up to Riederalp.

Author´s Tip / Recommendation of the author

If you want to do the entire Gletschi Tour in a single day with optimum skiing conditions, you should set by off 10:00 at the latest.

Safety guidelines

Visitors remaining on the slopes outside the opening hours of the ski area risk life and limb due to slope-grooming operations and the production of artificial snow. You should complete your last downhill run no later than 15:30 to reach the mountain villages of Riederalp, Bettmeralp or Fiescheralp in good time.

In the early and late season and in bad weather conditions, some lifts or slopes may remain closed. Information on the facilities and slopes in the Aletsch Arena can be found in the winter sports report.
