*What is Seppi Day?
St Joseph’s Day has been celebrated by the Roman Catholic Church on 19 March since the Middle Ages as the day of Saint Joseph, the foster father of Jesus. Saint Joseph, a carpenter by trade, is the patron saint of craftsmen, especially carpenters and joiners.
In Switzerland, St Joseph’s Day is often called Seppi Day. In some cantons and municipalities, St Joseph’s Day is a public holiday.
